Police Training College
Police Training College, Thiruvananthapuram was established in the year 1958 in the present campus. The basic training for the officers of Kerala Police was given at this institution till 2003. Now, apart from giving basic training to Police Constabulary, As many as 65 In-service courses/ refresher courses/ re orientation courses/ familiarization courses/ / cadre courses are also being undertaken at PTC. The Basic Course on Investigation for HCs (50 days), for ASIs (30 days) is one of the important In-service courses being undertaken at PTC. The Sub Inspectors' Talent Enhancement Programme (STEP) for young SIs is yet an another important In-service course being conducted at PTC to inculcate, the art of Scientific Investigation and to induce in them Legal Awareness, Talent and Professionalism etc in their work. Moreover, training on internal Administrative Processing System (iAPS) as part of Mission Mode Project (MMP) is also being conducted at PTC for the SS/JS/UDCs/LDCs of Police Department.
After the establishment of Police Academy at Thrissur, the officers are being given basic training at KEPA. Only the Basic Training for Excise Inspectors, Forest Officers are now being conducted at PTC. Apart from this, Computer Training for Recruit APPCs of SAP Bn and training on Common Integrated Police Application (CIPA) for Police Officers and men are also given at Police Training College.
Over and above, the Police Training College is designated as the South Zone Regional Training Centre (SZRTC) by the Intelligence Bureau. The IB has been imparting training directly with their faculty to the selected Officers from Kerala Police and also officers from Southern States and Union Territories. Also In-service training programmes for newly recruited Security Assistants are also being conducted at SZRTC, PTC.

Facilities at PTC
Police Training College is having 6 AC Classrooms, 2 Conference halls and a big auditorium. We have two computer labs consisting of 50 numbers of computers each. Out of the two computer lab, one is earmarked for imparting training on Crime & Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) and the other lab for other basic computer courses. Accommodation facility with food is available both for Male and Female Officers. We can accommodate about 300 trainees at a time in barracks. For Out door training, a big parade ground and a medium sized ground is available. Facility for playing Basket Ball, Shuttle badminton, Gym is also available.
Two numbers of Fire Simulator for Firing Practice are available at PTC. A new generation Driving Simulator is installed at PTC which is used for the Light Motor Vehicle Driving training of Recruit APPCs and other Officers.
The press at PTC is one of the biggest printing units of the Police Department. A monthly magazine named 'Kerala Police News Letter' is being published from PTC.
A devastating library with a good collection of books in various subjects is also functioning well here.
Speed detection Camera Control Room is functioning at Police Training College under the Supervision of Principal, PTC.
A good power supply unit with backup facility is available in PTC.
A Hanuman Swami Temple about 150 years old formerly being manned by British Police and a Mosque are also functioning at Police Training College.
