Reception Counters in Police Stations

Reception CountersAs part of the Modernization in Government Programme (MGP) in the Police Force, Reception Counters have been set up in selected 56 Police Stations in Kerala for the last two years. The public who visit the Police Stations to meet the Officers, to lodge complaints, for enquiring about the progress of the complaints/cases already registered, etc., are received by the Police personnel on duty at the Reception Counter. Public are getting necessary information, direction, assistance from these counters. The Reception Counter is manned by a Police Constable/Woman Police Constable. Sufficient number of chairs for the visitors, reading materials and drinking water, etc., are provided in the room where the Reception Counter is installed. The details of the visitors and their purpose of visit are being recorded in a Register kept in the Reception Counter. This system is getting a very good response from the Public, as they can approach the Police freely, without fear, to redress their grievances. This system will be introduced in all other Police Stations shortly.
